"I have an addiction, I am in the Place of Power more often than at home!": 10 months of working in the space
Do you know what could happen in ten months? You can learn Korean and understand your favorite k-pop video without subtitles, you can learn to play the guitar or become a chef like Gordon Ramsay, or you can... create a real miracle! After all, that's how much time has passed since we opened the doors of the Place of Power - a space where every teenager can be himself. And wow, how many cool things happened to us!
A little math, but very interesting😉
- 1232 events (it's almost like a series marathon, only much more useful!)
- 2,682 hours of activities (it would be possible to fly around the Earth on a plane more than 60 times)
- 12103 visits (the whole town can be inhabited)
- 24 school groups visited us in October (and it's not just a number - it's 24 new stories)
What cool things happened in October?
This month, we have a new art therapist, Alyona, with whom we discovered the real magic of creativity. Together we turn our emotions into bright pictures, and all experiences dissolve in colors and become something beautiful. The most popular workshops this month were: "Stained glass painting of glasses" and "Candlesticks with autumn flowers from foamiran". Now our teenagers drink tea from the most stylish mugs in town, and have also created such candlesticks that even IKEA would be jealous.
In October we held a series of discussion clubs "What's on my mind?", where they talked about everything: from anxiety to envy. And you know what? It turns out that when you talk your fears out loud, they become less scary. In a circle of friends, even the most difficult feelings become easier, and the path to their understanding is an interesting adventure.
By the way, about adventures! In our book club, older teenagers unraveled the mysteries of the novel "Portrait of Dorian Gray", and the younger ones laughed at the antics of the characters from the story "Toreadors from Vasyukivka".
And he also visited us Serhiy Prytula, and it was not just a meeting, but a real charge of energy and inspiration for our visitors. He talked about important things - about our language and culture and how important it is to protect our identity.
This month we launched a new stream therapeutic groups, where teenagers, thanks to communication with a psychologist and peer support, acquire important skills to overcome challenges. In short, it is a truly unique experience full of discovery and healing. Now our visitors become even closer to each other, learn to accept their emotions and find internal guidelines and support. We are incredibly proud of everyone who found the courage to embark on the path of transformation!
And as a cherry on the cake - the second stream of the modern humor course "This is (not) a joke to you". During two weeks, the teenagers learned not only to joke, but also to overcome stage fright, improvise and ignite the audience with their humor. Our final performance was so cool that even professional comedians began to worry about their laurels.
