A place where it's not scary to be yourself: 11 months of space work

03 December 2024

Time flies so fast, it seems like only yesterday we opened the doors of the Place of Power, and 11 bright months have already passed 🎉

Our space has become a second home for a thousand teenagers – and that’s no exaggeration! We have over 13 thousand visits, almost 3000 hours of cool activities and 1370 different events – from master classes to educational courses with top experts! In November alone, 25 school groups visited us – and we can say with confidence that everyone found something special for themselves here.

Let's remember the most interesting moments of November together!

What cool thing happened this month?

🎨 Art Therapy: Self-Expression Through Art

Did you know that creativity is a superpower that helps you better understand yourself and your emotions? In art therapy classes, teenagers explore themselves, become more confident, and learn to communicate with others.

This month we held a series of art therapy activities at the Place of Power. In the class "How do I sound in this world?" participants explored personal rhythms and learned to express emotions through sound. "How to tame a dragon?" was dedicated to anger management and its constructive expression. At the creative session "The Umbrella That Protects Me" Teenagers worked with various materials, creating symbolic umbrellas that should protect them from difficult life situations and challenges.

The most popular workshops this November were:

  • Beeswax candles
  • Halloween lanterns
  • Making slime (goodbye, stress!)
  • Notebook of peace

💭 They talked about something important.

Our discussion clubs are a place where you can discuss everything from relationships with parents to first love. No boring lectures, just live communication and useful advice from experienced psychologists!

In November we held a series of discussion clubs "Ambassadors of Healthy Relationships". Teenagers learned how to say “no” when necessary, how to respect their own and others’ space, and how to resolve conflicts without drama. Plus, they began to understand their parents, friends, and their significant other better!

🎓 Useful courses from top experts

In November, the Place of Power hosted several courses with top experts who shared their work experience and acquired skills with teenagers.

  • Lilit Skrakliy taught us to think creatively
  • Tetyana Zakhidnyuk revealed the secrets of financial literacy (now we know how to save up for the gadget of our dreams 😏)
  • Vlada Belozorenko helped overcome the fear of public speaking

You can read more about the courses this November at link.

🎬 Autumn camp "Shoot-Influence!"

Over six eventful days, 16 teens explored the topic of mental health and learned how to create videos that change the world!

Participants learned how to protect themselves on social media, resist cyberbullying, and create content using a regular phone.

The camp ended with a screening of the videos, a grand award ceremony, and a celebratory cake! Now there are more creative bloggers in the world – and who knows, maybe the next viral video about important topics will be created by one of them ✨

We can't help but add the reviews that warmed our hearts this month:

  • "I remember those wonderful classes with Olya, who conducted therapeutic courses - it was wonderful"
  • "I really like the Place of Power. There is a very friendly atmosphere here and you want to share your stories, impressions, ideas, and you are not afraid that someone will judge you. In my opinion, it's super cool. In short, you guys are very vibey 🫦 PS I was not paid for advertising"
  • "I will miss you all... This was my favorite camp in my life! I loved everything and I hope to come back here again someday."
  • "Imbo buzz where you can communicate and express yourself"
  • "I really liked everything! It's really sad that the camp is over"
  • "I've personally been here twice, I really like the atmosphere. Thank you for such a wonderful place that helps you feel comfortable💞"

Finally, we would like to thank our volunteers and, of course, the teenagers who make the Place of Power so special! We thank our partners: UNICEF, Madeira, HUP Foundation, NGO “Girls”, Urbanruh, who help us create a safe space for the development and self-realization of youth.

There are even more cool events, interesting meetings and unforgettable moments ahead. Join our benefactors and become ambassadors Places of Power, and also follow the news in Instagram, so as not to miss future announcements.
