And you know what? Feeling anxious, afraid, or tired in such conditions is absolutely normal!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In this article, we will share practical tips on how to maintain your mental health and find strength and joy even in the most difficult times \ud83e\udd17<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>What happens to our psyche during war?<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Constant stress and uncertainty have a strong impact on our brain. It\u2019s like a smartphone that constantly runs in power-saving mode \u2014 it turns off \u201cunnecessary\u201d functions to focus on the main thing. So your psyche is now redistributing resources to help you cope with stress. You can write your thoughts in a diary or just say them out loud \ud83d\udcdd<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Create small islands of safety:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> watch movies and TV series, create a cozy corner with soft pillows, do puzzles or color \ud83c\udfdd\ufe0f<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Practice breathing exercises:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Take a deep breath for 4 counts, hold your breath for 4, and breathe out for 6 counts. Repeat 5-10 times when you feel anxious \ud83c\udf2c\ufe0f<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Move as much as you can and wherever you can: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Even 10 minutes of dancing to your favorite song helps release tension from your body \ud83d\udc83<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Chat with friends offline: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Yes, we&#039;re all used to texting, but live communication gives a sense of connection and support that cannot be replaced \ud83d\udc65<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><b>When should you seek help?<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We often think we can figure out what&#039;s going on in our heads on our own. But sometimes our emotions are too strong to overcome on our own.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You&#039;re not ashamed to go to the doctor when you have a toothache, are you? The same goes for a psychologist - he&#039;s a professional who can help you find solutions that you can&#039;t see yet. If you notice that:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Anxiety prevents you from living normally<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thoughts appeared that life has no meaning<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You often feel helpless.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You abuse illegal substances to \u201cmuffle\u201d your feelings.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">...these are signals that you need professional support.
